Frequently Asked Questions

How does mobile physical therapy work?
Mobile physical therapy offers many of the same resources used outpatient clinics like exercise aids (resistance bands) and manual therapy techniques (cupping, scraping, etc.), but it is performed at a location that is convenient to you such as at your home, office, or even local park. This increases scheduling flexibility for the client.
What communities do you cover?
We are located in the Louisville area of Kentucky and primarily serve the following areas: Fern Creek, J-town, Middletown, St. Matthews, Anchorage, Simpsonville, Shelbyville, Taylorsville, Mount Eden, Mount Washington, and Bloomfield.
How is physical therapy and an injury prevention screen different?
Physical therapy is primarily targeting a loss of function like lifting, reaching overhead, walking, or squatting to give some examples. Prevention screening attempts to identify areas that your body has strayed from the ideal movement pattern and is compensating. There may not be obvious deficits or pain at this time, however. Once an area is identified a plan is created to move the body closer to the correct movements so that risk of injury decreases.
What is the value of prevention screening?
“Thus, the total financial cost of pain to society, which combines the health care cost estimates and the three productivity estimates, ranges from $560 to $635 billion.” – National Institute of Health
This is a quotation from an article in the National Institute of Health’s Library of Medicine. It shows how expensive pain is due to direct costs such as co-payments for physicians, x-rays, and MRI’s and indirectly due to loss of wages. And that was in 2010. Just think about how expensive pain and chronic pain are in today’s dollars! Many non-traumatic occurrences of pain could have been prevented with movement modifications prior to the actual damage occurring in joints or tissues. The prevention screen identifies areas that could lead to pain or injury if not corrected.
Do I need to see a physical therapist?
If you are asking this question, the answer is probably “Yes!” If you are in pain, have mobility loss, or loss of function affecting your life a physical therapist could be a great benefit to you. If you are concerned about future physical issues, have suffered injury before and want to ensure it does not lead to other issues in the future, or just assurance that you are taking care of yourself the best you can, please consider one of our injury prevention screenings.
Do you take my insurance?
Redeem Physical Therapy is not contracted with any medical insurance company. We operate on a cash-pay basis paid at the time of service.
Is there a benefit to paying out-of-pocket instead of using my insurance?
Absolutely! One of the reasons Redeem Physical Therapy has elected not to contract with any insurance is because reimbursement for physical therapy is poor and gets cut little by little every year. More recently insurance companies have begun “gatekeeping” physical therapy visits restricting your access to care even if your plan has an allotment for physical therapy. Additionally, most insurance companies allow a provider to address “functional” issues which would not include running for an athlete or even getting out of pain if functional measures were reached. If you are paying for the care, you get to dictate the goals in which you want to achieve instead of the insurance company.
Why should I use Redeem Physical Therapy instead of another cash-pay business?
Redeem Physical Therapy is competitively priced for services, offers one-on-one care, meets you on your terms, and ensures you see a highly skilled clinician every visit. What’s not to like?!
Why don’t you offer physical therapy to people with federally-funded insurance plans like Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare?
Even though Redeem Physical Therapy is not contracted with these insurances, federal law requires that claims be submitted on behalf of beneficiaries of these plans. Since we are not contracted with these, we have no ways to submit claims. As a result, services addressing functional deficits can not be provided. Injury prevention screenings are available as there is not a functional deficit to address that would meet the threshold to require claims submission.
Are there services you provide that are available to those with federally-funded insurance plans?
Yes! Injury prevention screenings are available to those with federally-funded plans. Decrease your chances of having those deficits in the first place!
Can I use my HSA?
You should be able to use your HSA as the services are considered wellness or physical therapy.
Can I get reimbursed through my insurance?
Maybe. Redeem Physical Therapy would be considered out-of-network. Most insurance companies have a maximal allowable amount for which they will cover out-of-network costs. You may submit a ‘superbill’ to your insurance if you would like to seek reimbursement. A superbill can be provided to you upon request. Redeem Physical Therapy has no control over the timeline for you to get reimbursement, or whether the insurance company will reimburse you at all.
